The Keysight-Agilent NAI8001A PCI to MXI-2
interface kit as distributed by Agilent
Technologies provides connection
between a C-size VXI mainframe and
an HP UNIX workstation with a PCI
backplane. The NAI8001A MXI-2 VXI
bus Extender module allows connection of multi-mainframes via the MXI-2
cable link. Both the NAI8000A and
NAI8001A are based on the National
Instruments MXI-2 interface kit and
are distributed and warranted by
Agilent. Consult National Instruments
for any additional information.
When used with an external HP UNIX
workstation with a PCI backplane,
the NAI8000A provides both the PCI
workstation plug in card and the Csize VXI controller module for the
VXI mainframe. The mainframe is
connected to the PCI card in the
workstation via the 2-meter MXI-2
cable provided in the kit. Using external controllers delivers the benefits of
an embedded VXI computer, such as
high-performance data transfers,
shared memory communication, and
direct control of the VXI bus, while
still maintaining the advantages of
flexibility, a wide selection of price
and performance workstations and
efficient use of only one VXI bus slot.
